Artist Statement: Love of quilting and fiber arts stitches people around the world together. My quilting e-pal of Mumbai, India exemplifies how sharing things we have in common broaden our perspective. After several years of discussing projects, family and travel Dolly shared that she was a member of one of the oldest religions in the world – Zoroastrianism. (Parsee in India)
Founded over 3500 years ago in ancient Iran it was also the first monotheistic religion. Once one of the most powerful religions in the world it’s just and tolerant ideals influenced other religions of that time.
Our emails lead my research into world religions. This piece depicts the tenets of her faith.
